Kristen was born in Brooklyn, NY to ministers, James and Daphne Jorgensen, in 1988. Her parents felt the call to serve as missionaries since she was just a baby fetus. Five years later with only $18 dollars in the bank and a whole lot of faith, the Jorgensens moved to Santiago, Dominican Republic. After a childhood of dirt roads, pica pollo, and being called “rubia” everywhere, the Jorgensen’s moved back to the United States…just in time for Kristen to start the best part of every young person’s life: middle school.
Most of her young adolescent life has been spent in the great American city of Albany, NY. She spent the rest of it at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. Then she ran out.
While she was at Emerson, she also completed semesters in Europe and Los Angeles. She is adding this detail so when she tells random stories about getting death threats in Austria you don’t think she’s lying. She wishes she was though.
After graduating from Emerson College in December of 2009 with a B.A. in Film Production, Kristen worked with a missions agency (Sound The Trumpet Ministries International) administrating and co-leading teams to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. In fall of 2010 she felt God calling her to House Of Praise to help people connect to God and church through media and served on staff as the Media Director there.
Currently she serves at a unique church plant, White Couch Albany, and runs a graphic and web design consulting business, Bananerd.
She is also a singer and spends time songwriting and singing at various churches and events across the Northeast.
Kristen is passionate about missions, media, music and the arts and wants to see people grow into a deeper relationship with God through these mediums.
